Parent / Educator Communication6.3 PARENT / EDUCATOR COMMUNICATION Parent / Educator communication is a vital link in bridging the gap between the home and the Centre for the children, so educators must make every effort to share information about the children with their parents. The Centre has various forms of communication, including parent/educator interviews, meetings, information boards, visual diaries, portfolios, information videos and handouts, telephone conversations, email etc. The email system set up into the rooms should be used as a vital connection between educators and parents. Educators should also ensure they communicate via phone calls, and through regular communication during drop off and pick up times. Parents are offered opportunities to formally meet with educators three times a year to discuss progress and development, however educators should make themselves accessible to parents at any time should they request a time to meet. The Centre emails all newsletters, letters, events, reminders, requests etc to parents, and also uses the internal Information Screen in the foyer to display upcoming events and activities happening throughout the Centre. Communication strategies regarding families should be discussed with the Nominated Supervisor/Team Leader upon appointment. → next policy (Internal Communication) → back to Operations and Administration |
