Process of monitoring who enters and leaves the CentreAll parents, visitors to the Centre, and team members without keys, should access the Centre via the front door using the intercom system. The intercom buzzer is located on the wall to the right of the front door. Access via the intercom can only be provided if Administration or one of the children’s rooms is attended. Team members MUST NOT buzz in anyone they are unfamiliar with, or buzz the door without looking who they are letting into the building. If team members notice someone at the front door who they are not familiar with, do not buzz them in from a room. In this case, move to the front of the Centre, personally open the door, and ask who they are, the reason for visiting and to see identification if required. All team members, particularly Administration staff on the front desk, must make themselves aware of visitors to the Centre, and question and request identification from any visitor with whom they are not familiar. All visitors to the Centre should be asked to enter their details and reasons for their visit in the Centre’s ‘Visitor’s Book’, located at the front desk, and should be directed to the person in charge of the Centre or the room they are visiting. Team members must ensure that all visitors to the Centre sign themselves out of the ‘Visitor’s Book’ and ensure they see them leave the building. Any person that comes to collect a child but team members are unfamiliar with this person, must be asked for identification and must verify with the child’s enrolment form that they are an “authorised person” to collect the child. (see ‘Procedures for releasing children from the service’). For the safety and wellbeing of all children and team members at the Centre, it is vital that all team members are fully aware at ALL times as to who is entering and leaving the Centre and that they have a full understanding of these processes of monitoring who enters and leaves the Centre. → next policy (Excursions / Incursions) → back to Operations and Administration |
